Metcalf, Rusten run to state meet

Once again, Glencoe-Silver Lake will be represented by multiple runners at this year’s Class A State Cross-Country Meet, scheduled to be held on Saturday afternoon on the campus of St. Olaf College in Northfield.
This time around, Panther girls’ runner Malayh Metcalf will be joined by Jakob Rusten of the boys’ team after the pair qualified for the season’s ultimate competition via their finishes in the Section 2A title meet last week.
Metcalf, an eighth-grader, punched her ticket for a second consecutive trip to state after finishing eighth in the 2A girls’ race on Thursday, Oct. 26.
Metcalf led the Panther girls with an eighth-place individual finish in a time of 20 minutes, 4.4 seconds at the Riverside Town and Country Golf Course in Winnebago.
Rusten burst his way onto the state stage with a jaw-dropping performance in the boys’ section meet.
