Myra J. Hoernemann, 86, of Glencoe

Myra Hoernemann

Myra June (Stoeckmann) Hoernemann, 86, of Glencoe, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 5, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Jon Niebuhr officiating. Cindy Longhenry was the organist. The Rev. Eric Hutchison and Jenny Hoernemann performed “Softly and Tenderly.” Congregational hymns were “Amazing Grace,” “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Honorary casket bearers were Mrs. Hoernemann’s granddaughters, Dawn Espe, Tracy Krueger, Crystal Petersen, Jenna Tart, Charity Horstmann and Candace Ranspot. Casket bearers were her grandsons, Ryan Hoernemann, Ross Hoernemann, Cory Hoernemann, Travis Hoernemann, Todd Petersen, Justin Horstman and Erik Espe. Interment will be at a later date in the Glencoe City Cemetery.
Myra June (Stoeckmann) Hoernemann was born June 10, 1931, in Glencoe, the daughter of William and Hattie (Albers) Stoeckmann. She was baptized as an infant on June 21, 1931, by the Rev. Bowman, and was confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 25, 1945, by the Rev. Wohlfeil, both at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. She received her education at Emanuel Lutheran School in Hamburg through the eighth grade, and graduated from Glencoe High School with the class of 1950.
On April 21, 1951, she was united in marriage to Gordon Henry Hoernemann by the Rev. Wohlfeil at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. They made their home in the Lester Prairie, Plato and Glencoe areas. Their marriage was blessed with six children, Marcia, Warren, Bruce, Doug, Mark and Linda. The couple shared almost 57 years of marriage before Hoernemann died on April 2, 2008.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Mrs. Hoernemann was employed at Glencoe Regional Health Services in the dietary department. She also worked at Tonka Toys in Mound, and was best known for being a waitress at local restaurants, including North Star Café, Country Kitchen and G. Dubbs. She retired from DHIA, where she tested milk. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, embroidering dish towels, and dancing with the polka club. She cherished the time spent with family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Warren (Theresa) Hoernemann of Roseville, Bruce (Connie) Hoernemann of Norwood Young America, Doug (Cindy) Hoernemann of Norwood Young America, Mark Hoernemann (special friend Sherry) of Lake Crystal and Linda Hoernemann (special friend Joel Haag) of Glencoe; grandchildren, Dawn (Erik) Espe, Tracy Krueger (special friend Matt), Crystal (Todd) Petersen, Ryan (Jessica) Hoernemann, Ross Hoernemann (fiancée Natalie), Jenna (Santangalo) Tart, Cory (Jenny) Hoernemann, Charity (Justin) Horstman, Travis (Ami) Hoernemann, Candace (Danny) Ranspot, Angie (Aaron) French, John (Lisa) Sweeney, Dan (Kelli) Sweeney, Brad Haag (fiancée Loni), Brian Haag (special friend Jenny) and Nathan Haag (fiancée Kelsey); 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn (Earl) Lange; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carol Stoeckmann, LuAnn (Fred) Harms, Raymond (Ardelle) Hoernemann, Ralph Hoernemann, Marlene Kuse, Orlin Hoernemann and Ronald Hoernemann (special friend, Annette); nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hattie Stoeckmann; husband, Gordon Hoernemann; daughter, Marcia Hoernemann; grandson, Andrew Hoernemann; and brother, Marvin Stoeckmann.
Memorials are preferred.
