Panther gymnasts earn win vs. Saints
The Glencoe-Silver Lake gymnastics team claimed a home victory last week with a win over St. Peter before falling in a dual meet at New Prague.
A score of 120.375 earned the Panthers a win against the visiting Saints on Tuesday, Jan. 24, with St. Peter mustering up a score of 118.600.
Gia Venier placed second in the all-around with a score of 30.850, while Marissa Greeley took fourth with a 30.050.
GSL won all four events via four separate competitors. Venier won the vault with an 8.625, with Alexis Bergstrom taking first on the uneven bars with a 7.3; Breana Templin was first on the balance beam with a 7.875, before Greeley’s 8.375 earned first in floor exercise.
Two nights later in New Prague, the Panthers came up on the short end of a 135.975-119.700 decision.
Venier’s 30.775 was good for second in the all-around, followed by Greeley’s 30.15.
