Panther gymnasts host 'Cats, Rockets

New London-Spicer and Rockford came to town on Thursday, Jan. 18, for a triangular meet against the Glencoe-Silver Lake gymnastics team. The Panthers finished second out on the night with a team score of 118.050. The Wildcats won with 135.075, with the Rockets placing third at 117.475.
Marissa Greeley led the way for GSL in the all-around, taking fourth with a score of 31.475. Gia Venier placed fifth in the all-around at 30.000, with Makayla Wigern taking sixth at 29.875.
Greeley won the floor exercise with a 9.375, with Venier tying for sixth at 8.375. Greeley and Venier each scored an 8.675 to tie for second on the vault, with Wigern placing fifth at 8.550.
On the balance beam, Wigern took seventh with a 6.875 as Greeley placed eighth at 6.850. Wigern took seventh on the uneven bars at 7.000, with Greeley ninth at 6.575 and Venier 10th at 6.550.
It’s another one-meet stretch for the Panthers this week as GSL travels to New Prague to take on the Trojans.
JV Update
The GSL junior varsity recorded a score of 59.65 to place second in its triangular against NL-S and Rockford. Kelsey Rae placed fourth in the individual all-around with a 22.15.
