Panther spikers drop two to begin road trip

Losses at Mayer Lutheran as well as Annandale last week dropped the Glencoe-Silver Lake volleyball team two matches below .500 on the season.
The Panthers, in the midst of a five-date road trip, narrowly came up on the short end against the Cardinals, losing three of four games by a total of six points.
GSL dropped the first two games 25-23, 26-24, before winning the third game 25-21. However, the Cardinals gritted out the fourth and deciding game 26-24 to take the evening’s victory.
Hitters Rhyan Herrmann and McKenna Monahan shared the team-high in Panther kills with 11 apiece, while setter Lexi Hansch paced the squad with 30 assists.
Libero Maren Roepke topped the visitors with 16 digs and four service aces, while Monahan had 11 digs and Hansch logged nine. Hitters Kasidy Cacka and Mickalyn Frahm had six kills apiece.
Two nights earlier, GSL fell in three games (25-21, 25-17, 26-24) at Mayer Lutheran, undefeated on the season and ranked No. 1 in the Class A poll. Results from that match were not available.
