Panthers maul tigers, advance to section final

After falling to Belle Plaine in the sectional semifinals the past two seasons, the Glencoe-Silver Lake football team dished out a heapin’ helpin’ of revenge in the Section 2AAA semis on Saturday, Oct. 28, blanking the Tigers 34-0 at Stevens Seminary Stadium.
The Panthers dominated all facets of the game, taking the lead for good on a touchdown scamper by running back Carsen Streich with just over two minutes remaining in the opening half.
Streich’s score was set up by a 63-yard upfield sprint by quarterback Korey Johnson that put the hosts in Belle Plaine territory for the first time in the contest.
Johnson had his finest game of his initial season as the GSL signal caller.
Buoyed by the protective efforts of his offensive line, Johnson finished with 78 yards rushing on the day, while also completing 5-of-6 passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns.
