Panthers up record to 6-0 with two-win week

A perfect start to the season was run to 6-0 as the Glencoe-Silver Lake baseball team won both of its Wright County Conference West matchups last week. On the road for both games, the Panthers won 8-6 at Mound Westonka on Tuesday, April 19, and 9-1 at Annandale on Friday, April 22.
Mitch Pinske went 4-1/3 innings for the win in the victory against the White Hawks. Pinske struck out five batters while walking four and allowing nine hits and five earned runs.
Alex Troska earned the save with 2-2/3 innings of hitless work, striking out two and walking one in a scoreless appearance.
“Mitch had kind of a rough start, but he settled in and took control of the game at some points,” coach Dean Schwirtz said. “When he has control of his split finger (pitch) he can be unhittable at times. Mitch will only get better as the season progresses.”
It was a back-and-forth affair, with Mound Westonka leading 2-1 after the first. GSL took a 6-2 lead in the top of the fourth, but the White Hawks rallied to knot the score at 6-all after the fifth.
