Panthers tear it up at Homecoming

With its season in jeopardy, the Glencoe-Silver Lake football team put forth its most dominant effort of the autumn on Homecoming night.

“We’d been shooting ourselves in the foot a lot this season,” quarterback Luke Frahm said. “But tonight, everything seemed to click.”

Picking itself up off the mat on the heels of a three-game losing streak, the Panthers once again found their collective roar and tore into visiting Watertown-Mayer.

By the time GSL was finished with their visiting sectional rivals, the Panthers had regained a good bit of their swagger by means of a 47-7 victory.

“It was a great game,” lineman Peyton Sell said. “This week we really came out and played as a team and it showed.”

While the game ended on pleasant terms for GSL, it sure didn’t begin that way.

Those in the home stands at Stevens Seminary Stadium groaned as the visiting Royals took the opening kickoff and then marched down the field on a 12-play, 77-yard scoring drive to take a 7-0 lead.
