Penny Lucille (Meyer) Verdeck was born Jan. 8, 1975, in Arlington. She was the daughter of Dennis and Susan (Fries) Meyer. She was baptized as an infant on Jan. 26, 1975, by the Rev. Bernard H. Becker at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Green Isle, and was confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 30, 1989, by the Rev. Harvey Kath, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. She graduated from Glencoe High School with the class of 1993. She went on to further her education at Lowthian College in Minneapolis for fashion design.
On Sept. 20, 1997, she was united in marriage to Ryan Verdeck by the Rev. Harvey Kath at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. They made their home in rural Glencoe, and their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Morgan Frances and Claire Adeline. The couple shared over 17 years of marriage.
Mrs. Verdeck was employed at Security Bank & Trust Co. in Glencoe as an operations specialist. She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school. She also was a member of the Glencoe Library Board, a Girl Scout leader, an FFA ambassador, Esprit De She ambassador and a Life Time Triathlon Race ambassador.
She was a runner, participating in half-marathons and triathlons. She was a crafty person and enjoyed camping. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her husband and children, attending her children’s events and games, including soccer and dance. Dance recital night was her favorite night. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Ryan Verdeck of Glencoe; daughters, Morgan Frances and Claire Adeline Verdeck, both of Glencoe; parents, Dennis and Susan Meyer of Glencoe; siblings, Christine (Jon) Carrigan of Hutchinson, Veronica (Travis) Linngren of Milbank, S.D., and Michael (Jeri) Meyer of Hutchinson; father-in-law, Duane Verdeck of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Kari Meek of Royalton; nieces; nephews; other family; many friends; and her racing family.
