Plato going back to state with two region wins
With a pair of victories in their first two Region 7C Tournament games in Green Isle last weekend, the Plato Blue Jays punched their ticket for the state tournament for the third consecutive season.
“Making it to the state tournament is one of our goals every year,” manager Adam Damman said. “It feels great to have accomplished that goal.”
Plato claimed a 1-0 win over Watertown in its regional opener on Saturday, Aug. 9, before besting Winsted 5-2 the next night. Both victories came courtesy of offensive exploits in the ninth inning.
The Blue Jays had a devil of a time with a scrappy Watertown squad on Saturday afternoon.
“Watertown is a very good team,” Dammann said. “They are tough to beat and it was a very hard-fought game.”
