Pola-Czesky Days open Friday night

Silver Lake is planning another three days of fun-filled events as its annual Pola-Czesky Days celebration opens Friday, Aug. 5. This is the 47th year of the celebration.
Friday evening activities include the start of the kickball tournament and the popular toilet bowl races. Both start at 7 p.m. The kickball tournament is at the softball field, and the toilet bowl races are held on Main Street near the auditorium. A street dance featuring Menace will follow the toilet bowl races.
Events start early Saturday morning with the volleyball tournament opening the day at 8 a.m. at the sports complex. Other Saturday events include a 5K walk/run at 9 a.m., the continuation of the kickball tournament at 9 a.m., the kiddie parade at 10 a.m.; kids games in Legion park starting at 10:20 a.m., a kids pedal tractor pull at 12:30 p.m., a classic car show and 2-Cylinder Club at 1 p.m., bean bag tournament at 1 p.m., mini-rod tractor pull at 1 p.m., a polka Mass in the Legion Park pavilion at 7 p.m., and the royalty ball at 8:30 p.m. featuring music by Up South. The evening will be capped by fireworks at 10 p.m.
Sunday’s activities include a community worship service in the Legion Park at 9 a.m., the Silver Lake Lions Club pork chop dinner at 11 a.m., the parade on Main Street from the east end to the pool at 1 p.m., an ice cream social at 3 p.m. in Legion Park, a history of Silver Lake roundtable in the Legion at 3 p.m., the royalty coronation at 3 p.m. in the auditorium, and a street dance at 3 p.m. with music by South 40.
Food and beverages will be served throughout the weekend.
