Post 5102 busts out the lumber
Three straight post-Independence Day wins have given the Glencoe VFW Post 5102 baseball team a 13-6 overall record heading into the final two games of the regular season.
Glencoe closed out the weekend by claiming a doubleheader sweep against Becker at Vollmer Field on Sunday, July 9.
Starting pitcher Joe Knudten earned the win in the opener with six innings of four-hit, three-strikeout work in a 12-5 victory. Knudten also went 3-for-4 at the plate as Glencoe banged out 16 hits in all.
Bennett Lepel and Ty Christensen both went 3-for-4 in the game, registering two and one RBI, respectively. Brett Baumgarten was 2-for-3 with one RBI, with Preston Sturges logging a 2-for-2 game with two walks and one RBI.
Game Two saw starting pitcher Andrew Wraspir claiming a complete game win with five strikeouts over five innings in a 10-7 rain-shortened affair. He also netted two RBI while going 1-for-2 batting with one walk.
