Public hearing set April 16 for Hennepin Avenue project

A public hearing is scheduled for Monday, April 16, at 7:15 p.m., concerning the planned Hennepin Avenue Americans with Disabilities (ADA) improvement project. The $455,210 project in downtown Glencoe calls for the construction of such items as a water main, water services, sanitary sewer services, a storm sewer, curb and gutter, and replacement of deteriorating sidewalks on the east side of Hennepin Avenue from 11th Street north to 13th Street.
The city’s share of the project costs is $124,502, while the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will pay $251,000 because Hennepin Avenue also is State Highway 22. The remaining $79,708 will be assessed against Hennepin Avenue properties benefiting from the project.
The bid was awarded earlier this year to R&R Excavation of Hutchinson, which hopes to begin the work this spring “when the weather allows,” according to John Rodeberg, city consulting engineer from Short Elliott Hendrickson (SEH), Inc.
