Raymond Mrkvicka

Raymond Richard Mrkvicka, 93, of Cosmos, formerly of Silver Lake, died Friday, March 24, 2017, at Cedar Crest of Cosmos.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 30, at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, with the Rev. Paul Schumacher as the celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday, March 30, for one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Mr. Mrkvicka was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Hale Township, McLeod County, the son of Frank and Mary (Kucera) Mrkvicka. He graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1942. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army in World War II. He farmed north of Silver Lake and later worked at Tonka Toys in Mound.
He enjoyed polka music. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, American Legion Post 141 and belonged to the McLeod County Historical Society.
He is survived by two nieces and two nephews, Diane Chesshir, Dennis (Linda) Witucki, Jenise (Paul) Henke and Jim (Tammy) Mrkvicka; six great-nephews and two great-nieces; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Mrkvicka; sister, Marion Witucki; brother, Roger Mrkvicka; brother-in-law, Gus Witucki; and sister-in-law, Shirley Mrkvicka.
Arrangements are with the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake.
