Robeck takes oath of office

There is a new, but familiar, face on the Glencoe City Council after Allen Robeck was sworn into office Monday prior the annual organization meeting of the council. But it took a break from tradition to do it after three council members were absent, and the Council did not have a quorum to complete its 2014 business.
So Robeck, a longtime city employee — now retired — who was elected as the at-large council member in November’s general election, took the oath of office early in order to give the City Council its required minimum three votes.
Missing were Council Member John Schrupp, who was on vacation, and Gary Ziemer, who was ill. Also ill was Lori Adamietz, who was to bid adieu after eight years on the City Council, first as a precinct council member and as an at-large member the past four years.
Once Robeck took his oath and replaced Adamietz, a brief meeting wrapped up the 2014 year-end business. Schrupp and Ziemer will be sworn into office at the Tuesday, Jan. 20, City Council meeting.
The short-handed Glencoe City Council then approved a number of organizational issues to kick off 2015. For more, see the Jan. 7 print edition of The McLeod County Chronicle.
