Robert ‘Cuz’ Cousins, 64, of NYA
Robert “Cuz” Cousins, 64, of Norwood Young America, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m., at the Johnson Funeral Home, 141 First St. E, Waconia, with Chaplain Michelle Hienz as the officiant. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. There will be a reception and a time for remembering immediately after the service at the Roy Clay Community Building, 327 Elm St. W, in Norwood Young America.
Robert James Cousins Jr. was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, the son of Robert J. and Janice (Anderson) Cousins Sr. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Galesville, Wisconsin. As a young boy, his family moved to St. Louis Park. He was confirmed at Westwood Lutheran Church in St. Louis Park. After graduating from St. Louis Park High School in 1972, he moved to Norwood Young America, which is where he began to be known as “Cuz.” On Oct. 8, 1977, he was united in marriage to Joan Goodroad at the Church of Peace in Norwood Young America.
Mr. Cousins worked for Lano Equipment in Norwood Young America from 1978 until his retirement in 2015. He was a member of the Norwood Young America Fire Department from 1978 to 2005. He enjoyed going to the lake every weekend, boating, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his friendly and outgoing personality and as a person who could talk to anyone.
He is survived by his loving family: wife, Joan Cousins of Norwood Young America; children, Julie Cousins (partner Matt Jackson) of Albion, Michigan, Amy (husband Andrew) McChesney of Melrose and Richard Cousins (partner Kimmy Schieber) of Norwood Young America; grandchildren, Christopher, Benjamen and Brooklynn McChesney; brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Robin Cousins of La Porte; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Annice and Wilmer Wichelmann of Norwood Young America, David and Inger Goodroad of Downington, Pennsylvania, Lewis and Debra Goodroad of Griffin, Georgia, Warren and Karen Goodroad of Minnetonka and Larry and Kari Goodroad of Holt, Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Janice Cousins Sr. and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leroy and Margaret Goodroad.
