Ruth Ella Randt, 89, of Glencoe

Ruth Randt

Ruth Ella (Boike) Randt, 89, of Glencoe, died peacefully Oct. 28, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 30, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato with the Rev. Tyson Mastin officiating. Yvonne Schuette was the organist. Congregational hymns were “Jesus Still Leads On,” “Just As I Am,” “Nearer, My God to Thee,” “On Eagle’s Wings” and “Abide With Me.”
Casket bearers were Mike Henning, Darron Alsleben, Jeremy Parpart, Nathan Randt, Eric Randt and Matthew Randt. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Ruth Ella Randt was born Dec. 8, 1927, in Clara City, the daughter of Folgo and Rena (Broers) Boike. She was baptized as an infant on Feb. 2, 1928, and confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 3, 1942, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. She received her education through the eighth grade.
On Nov. 4, 1949, she was united in marriage to Harry Randt. The couple made their home in rural Clara City, Waverly, Plato and Glencoe. Their marriage was blessed with nine children, Carol, Janice, David, Gary, Sharon, Randy, Chuck, Jane and Darryl. They shared over 39 years of marriage before Mr. Randt died on March 27, 1988.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Mrs. Randt worked as a nursing aide in Lester Prairie, at the canning factory in Winsted, Millers Produce in Plato and, before retirement, she cleaned houses in the Cities. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato.
Mrs. Randt loved her family and was a hard worker. She enjoyed gardening, baking, dancing, singing, camping and playing dice.
She is survived by her children, Carol (Aaron) Alsleben of Glencoe, Janice (Larry) Henning of Plato, Gary (Becky) Randt of Buffalo, Sharon (Michael) Fox of Glencoe, Chuck (Linda) Randt of Osakis, Jane Randt (Dave Zimmerman) of Prior Lake and Darryl Randt of Wood Lake; daughters-in-law, Miriam Randt of Glencoe and Cindy Randt of Chaska; grandchildren, Brenda (Randy) Kraemer, Darron (Tami) Alsleben, Michael (Chris) Henning, Michelle (Adam) Pitt, Melanie (Ben Tietz) Crawley, Debra (Matt) Butler, Andrea (Scott) Belseth, Tim (Stephanie) Randt, Nathan (Amy) Randt, Alisa (Ryan) Walters, Ryan (Kaitlyn Ische) Fox, Eric (Kelsey) Randt, Amanda (Nick) Rosnew, Matthew Randt, Josh (Alyssa) Randt, Jeremy (Michele) Parpart, Stacy (Ken) Peterson Jr., Bryan (Brianna) Randt, Luke (Mandy Bruns) Randt, Nicole Randt and Jessica Eisel; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Folgo and Rena Boike; husband, Harry Randt; children, David Randt and Randy Randt; grandson, Brandon Randt; brothers, George and Harold; sisters, Maryn and Florence; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
