Sandra Bennett, 73, Avon Park, Fla.

Sandy Bennett
Sandra Lee (Schugg) Bennett, 73, (formerly of Glencoe), of Avon Park, Florida and Clear Lake, Minnesota, passed away April 17, 2016, at her home in Florida.
 
“Sandy” was born in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, on Aug. 4, 1942, the eldest child of Melvin “Hap” and Leata “Babe” (Roen) Schugg. Sandy’s primary education was at St. Pius X School in Glencoe; she graduated from Stevens Seminary/Glencoe High School in 1960.
 
On April 22, 1961, she married Jerry Bennett. This marriage was blessed with two children, Nancy and Paul.
 
Sandy gained much knowledge, experience and wore many hats with her on-the-job training as she expanded her lifelong career working in a dental office atmosphere from basic assisting to upper level management.
 
Sandy truly enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, round dancing, and entertaining, especially cooking and baking for family and friends.
 
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Leata Schugg; stepparent, Lillian Schugg; sister-in-law, Cheryl Bennett; brother-in-law, Donald Bennett; nephew, Daniel Schauer; and niece-in-law, Theresa Bennett.
 
Sandy’s survivors include the following: husband, Jerry, of 54 years and 360 days; daughter, Nancy Bennett, and grandchildren, Corina and Colin Grodek, of Vancouver, Washington; son, Paul (Kristy) Bennett and grandchildren, Ryan and Alison Bennett, of Lake Zurich, Illinois; nieces, whom Sandy and Jerry loved and opened their home to as their own children, Kelly (Schugg) Sehr and “grandchildren” Tyler and Dillyn Schwarz and Tanner (Sehr) Schugg of Gaylord,  and Kay Lynn (Schugg) Floback and “grandchildren” Toni and Alexis Floback of Lombard, Illinios; siblings, Ed (Cheryl) Schugg of New Auburn, Ted (Carol) Schugg of Waconia and Lynn (Virgil) Schauer of Glencoe; brother-in-law, Warren Bennett of Norfolk, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Lucille Bennett of Norfolk, Nebraska; niece, Stacie (Schauer) (Jim) Mueller and sons Jordan and Joey of Arlington; nephews, Jeremy Schauer and significant other Stephanie St. John of Green Isle and Matt (Jodi) Schauer of Arlington; aunt, Bernice (Schugg) Jacobs of Parkers Prairie; many cousins, nieces and nephews and other family members from the Schugg, Henkel and Bennett sides of her family, as well as many treasured, lifelong and loyal friends.
 
Funeral services will be held on June 4 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Marcus Catholic Church, 8701 Main Avenue, Clear Lake, Minnesota. A celebration of Sandy’s life will follow immediately at The Travelers Country Club Clubhouse, 8520 85th Ave., Clear Lake.
