School board OKs two-year pact with GSL’s principals

As it negotiates two-year contracts with the unions representing its teachers and paraprofessionals, the Glencoe-Silver Lake School Board approved an agreement with its four building administrators Monday evening.
The board unanimously approved without public discussion at the July 8 meeting a 225-day contract with building administrators for 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years. The agreement will cost $560,584 in 2019-2020 and $573,325 in 2020-2021. It will cost $28,210 more than the contract that ended June 30 and is a 5.11 percent increase for wages and benefits over the next two years.
Director Jason Lindeman, the acting board chairman in the absence of Director Jamie Alsleben, said the settlement was fair for both the principals and the district alike. Sonju said the settlement is “pretty comparable for the area and our conference.”
