Sheryl ‘Sheri’ Lowden, of New Auburn

Sheri Lowden

Sheryl “Sheri” Lowden, 75, of New Auburn, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord.
A gathering of family and friends was held Friday, June 26, at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe. Interment will be at a later date in High Island Cemetery in New Auburn.
 
Sheryl “Sheri” Janice Lowden was born Feb. 28, 1940, in Bakersfield, Calif. She was the daughter of Earl and Leah (Quarnberg) Miller. She was baptized and confirmed in her faith as a youth at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Tooele, Utah, on July 18, 1948. She was educated in and was a graduate of Tooele High School. She furthered her education by attending Hennepin Technical College in Eden Prairie.
 
On Feb. 18, 1968, she was united in marriage to Vernon “Roy” Lowden in Wendover, Nevada. They made their home in Tooele, Utah, until they moved to New Auburn in 1970. Together, they owned and operated Roy and Sheri’s Café in New Auburn from 1974 to 1977. They shared 29 years of marriage before Mr. Lowden’s death on June 18, 1997.
 
In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, Mrs. Lowden worked at 3M in Hutchinson for 39 years, retiring in 2009. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She also was a member of the New Auburn Lions Club, High Island Conservation Club, Friends of High Island and the New Auburn Historical Society. She served on the City Council and volunteered at many community events.
 
Mrs. Lowden enjoyed bowling, quilting, embroidery, knitting, flower gardening, camping with the girls, reading and yard work. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also had a heart for animals and provided a loving home for many strays over the years.
 
She is survived by her children, Steven (Debbie) Lowden of Waconia, Julie (Al) Davidson of Hutchinson, Craig Lowden (fiancé Jen Rogstad) of New Auburn, and Val Lowden of Waconia; grandchildren, Melani (Mike) Richter, Mitchell Lowden, James Lowden, Ashley (Denver) Dietrich, Brianna Lowden (fiancé Wes Abrams), Tony Lowden, Allison Lowden, Tim Lowden, Jessica Lowden, Michelle Lowden and Ty Lowden; great-grandchildren, Brandon Richter, Brittney Richter, Merisa (Brian) Kosek and Grayson Abrams; great-great-grandchildren, Aiden and Mckaya Kosek; sister, Linda Hughes of New Auburn; sister-in-law, Ruby Frazier of Oregon; niece, Lori Pandelis of Walnut Creek, Calif., grandnephew, Jaxon Pandelis; other relatives and many friends.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Miller and Leah Stanton; husband, Vernon Lowden; and infant daughter, Lori Lynn.
