Silver Lake City Council discusses buildings, clerk vacancy at meeting

The Silver Lake City Council had two items on the agenda at a special meeting, Tuesday, May 23 — a continued discussion of the demolition of Main Street buildings, and the process to replace City Clerk Kerry Venier, whose resignation is effective June 16.
The first item to be considered was continued discussion on the demolition of two buildings on Main Street.
The council reviewed a proposal to get the specifications of the buildings to be able to seek bids for the demolition.
The cost of the proposal, from Short Elliott Hendrickson (SEH), Inc., was $13,500, which includes the inspection of the four buildings to determine the degree of attachment, inspection of the adjacent Post Office before and after demolition, writing specifications for the demolition of two and four buildings, writing and creating the bid package, soliciting bids for demolition; conducting the bid opening, and providing a summary of the bids to the council.
