Silver Lake Council approves water and sewer fee increases

The Silver Lake City Council approved a 25-cent increase to the water and sewer utilities at its Monday meeting.
The base fees for water and sewer will increase to $8.75 each. Water usage will increase to $4.50 and sewer to $6.50 per 1,000 gallons respectively.
The council reviewed area cities’ fees. Base fees in the area range from $6.11 in Winsted to $16.75 in Lester Prairie.
The last increase of 50 cents was two years ago.
As it looks at future water and sewer improvement projects, the council felt it important to make gradual increases instead of a large one when a project is completed.
