Silver Lake Council asks staff to cut $40,000 from 2016 budget
The Silver Lake City Council took its first look at the 2016 city budget and asked the administration and department heads to make some cuts at its regular meeting on Monday, July 20.
The budget show expenses and revenue of $782,129, a 10.19 percent increase over the 2015 budget.
At that amount, the 2016 tax levy would increase 5.18 percent to $496,437.90.
Over the last several years the city’s tax levy has decreased or remained the same and the council feels that a 5.18 percent increase is too much.
City Clerk Kerry Venier said there is a lot that can be done to decrease the budget and asked the Council for guidance on how it would like the city staff to move forward.
