Silver Lake couple wins award in car show
Brian and Julie Stibal of Silver Lake participated in the 10,000 Lakes Concours d’Elegance car show in Excelsior on Sunday, July 30 with their 1956 Oldsmobile Holiday Super 88 Sedan Deluxe.
The couple won a preservation award for the car, given to honor beautifully unrestored, original vehicles.
The Stibals were first-time participants in the car show.
“We’re more used to the mom-and-pop, very informal kind of car show,” said Brian Stibal.
The Stibals learned about the 10,000 Lakes Concours d’Elegance at a car show in St. Peter last fall. After some investigation, they decided to submit their car to the 10,000 Lakes Concours d’Elegance committee. The Stibals’ submission was accepted, along with 150 vehicle submissions from other participants.
Besides cars, there were also old motorcycles, vintage boats, and even a small group of Army cars on display. Around 115 vehicles participated in the event with entries coming from Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa and New Jersey, among other states.
