SL takes ownership of downtown building
The Silver Lake City Council approved the purchase of one of the two downtown buildings that have been deemed unfit for occupancy at its meeting on Monday, Oct. 17.
The tax-forfeited property was purchased from McLeod County. The other affected property has already been purchased.
The city has received quotes to raze the two buildings that have ranged from $70,000 to $110,000. It continues to look for options.
The Council also received a quote from Brett Madsen Abatement of Hutchinson for $16,500 to remove and dispose of asbestos at the site.
