SL City Council makes annual appointments
Silver Lake Mayor Bruce Bebo made his annual appointments at the City Council’s organizational meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Council Member Ken Merrill will serve as acting mayor as well as remain the liaison to the municipal liquor store. The community development and Planning Commission liaison will be Council Member Brenda Fogarty. Council Member Josh Mason will serve as the public safety liaison, which includes the police and fire departments and ambulance service. Council Member Nolan Johnson will represent the public works department on the council. Bebo will continue to serve as the city administration liaison.
The liaisons serve as a representive between the department heads and the council. They do not serve in a supervisory role, but allow the respective council members to gain and contribute insight into the appointed areas. The liaisons’ duties include working with the department and employees to be able to update the council on the budget and workings of the department throughout the year. The liaison appointments rotate on an annual basis to allow councilors to have the opportunity to work with different aspects of the city departments.
