S.L. City Council mulling Sunday hours for ‘Muni’

Should the City of Silver Lake decide to offer Sunday sales at its municipal on- and off-sale liquor operation? It’s a question the city council will discuss during a workshop Monday evening, April 29.
Opening the on- and off-sale portion of the business every Sunday is just one of the topics the council will take up at the 6:30 p.m. workshop at the Silver Lake Auditorium. The council will also discuss during the workshop whether children will be allowed in the Muni. City policy currently prohibits children from being in the facility.
Mayor Dorothy Butler could not be reached by phone. In an e-mailed statement, she said, “The council has been approached by many individuals inquiring as to why we are not keeping up with the times and offering the same benefits as neighboring communities and that is why we are looking at Sunday liquor sales. As one citizen asked me - ‘prohibition ended almost 100 years ago, when is the Muni going to get with the program and start offering to sell liquor on Sunday and start generating more revenue?”
