Spikers earn share of fourth straight conference crown
An impressive October charge earned the Glencoe-Silver Lake volleyball team a share of its fourth consecutive Wright County Conference West championship.
The Panthers clinched a tie for the title by rallying for a five-set win at conference leader Watertown-Mayer on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
After trailing one set to none and two-to-one, GSL roared back to take the final two sets and the win (18-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-13, 15-6).
“(It was a) slow start, but perseverance outshines the night,” coach Lori Schwirtz said. “A valiant team effort – very happy for all the team members.”
Kasidy Cacka led the way with 16 kills, while fellow hitters Rhyan Herrmann and McKenna Monahan each contributed 12 kills.
