Spikers split, sectionals beckon

While a three-game sweep of Mound Westonka kept the Glencoe-Silver Lake volleyball team unbeaten in Wright County Conference West competition, a five-game loss to WCC East squad Holy Family Catholic may prove to complicate the Panthers’ postseason plans.
GSL had little trouble with the White Hawks on Tuesday, Oct. 11, sweeping the visiting side in three straight games: 25-15, 25-10, 25-17.
The victory kept the Panthers unbeaten in WCC West play with a 6-0 overall circuit record. Mound Westonka dropped to 1-5 in conference play with the loss.
Hitters Maddie Monahan and Rhyan Herrmann shared the lead in kills on the night with nine apiece, with Monahan adding 10 digs while Herrmann had nine digs and five ace blocks.
Setter Jessica Lemke paced the hosts in both assists and digs with 14 and 17, respectively.
