Stewart City Council accepts bid for new north truck ring road
The Stewart City Council awarded the low bid of $831,322.58 to R&R Excavating, Inc., of Hutchinson for the proposed Mill Street construction project.
City Engineer Andy Kehren from Bolton and Menk informed the council that five bids were received ranging from the low bid to over $985,000.
The sealed bids were opened March 1.
The city has received a $500,000 grant from the state Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) to help with the project.
The proposed project will create a truck route from County Road 7 west to Yankee Avenue for truck traffic to and from Form-A-Feed.
Shannon Sweeney from David Drown and Associates told the council that the total cost of the project, with land acquisition, would be over $1.3 million.
