Stewart council sets preliminary levy
The Stewart City Council unanimously approved a proposed tax levy increase of 5 percent for 2021 Monday night, Sept. 14.
The proposed preliminary property tax levy cannot be raised once it’s set. It can either stay at the same amount or be decreased. The final 2021 levy must be set by the end of the year.
Councilor Kevin Klucas proposed the increase in the preliminary levy in hopes the city will only need to have a 1 to 3 percentage increase.
