Stewart to replace water tower riser, discuss bacterial water treatment
At a cost of $57,516.59, the Stewart City Council approved the replacement of the inlet/outlet riser pipe to the water tower at its meeting Monday night, April 8. The council also heard from MMS Environmental President Michael Morris about the potential for treating water with bacteria as opposed to chemicals.
The replacement of the riser pipe is a part of the 2018-2019 infrastructure improvement project, which, before the replacement, ran a total contract price of $2,724,419.80. After the riser pipe is figured in, the total price is now $2,781,936.39.
