Track and Field squads earn high marks
The Glencoe-Silver Lake track and field teams competed in a pair of meets last week, a four-team Wright County Conference matchup at Dassel-Cokato on Tuesday, May 3, and a multi-team invitational at New London-Spicer two days later.
The GSL girls claimed a hard-fought victory in its WCC quadrangular at Dassel-Cokato, earning 84.5 points to best the host Chargers by 2.5 points after posting seven first-place finishes.
Rhyann Herrmann won the 100-meter dash in a time of 13 seconds flat, then placed second in the 200-meter dash in 27.18.
Kayla DeYonge won the 400-meter dash in one minute, 15.12 seconds, with Maddie Monahan winning the 300-meter hurdles in 49.33.
Megan Siewert led a top-three sweep in the 3200-meter run with a 13:47.76. Annamaria Falcon was second in 13:51.89 and Ellie Schmidt took third in 13:55.55.
Maddie Lemke placed second in the 800-meter run in 2:59.18, with Emily Muetzel placing third in the 100 with a run of 13.27.
