Track and field teams compete at Invite
In preparation for the sectional True Team meet that was held on Tuesday, May 5, the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ and girls’ track and field teams had a light stretch of competition with just one meet last week.
Both Panthers’ teams took part in the Connie Manuel Invitational at Mound Westonka High School on Thursday, April 30. The GSL boys took third with 88 points, while the girls placed fifth with 36.3.
Emily Muetzel had the Panthers’ top finish at the invite, taking second in the 400-meter dash with a time of one minute flat.
Megan Siewert was third in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12 minutes, 39.16 seconds.
A 1-2-3 sweep of the 3200-meter run highlighted the GSL boys’ afternoon in Mound, as Jac Chelman, Isiah Herout and Garrett Ober took the top three spots with times of 10:11.55, 10:16.99 and 10:24.81, respectively.
