Track and field teams take it outside

The Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ and boys’ track and field teams competed outside for the first time this season in a three-team meet at Kasson-Mantorville on Friday, April 15. Under sunny, warm and windy conditions, the both Panther squads finished second to Red Wing, with the host KoMets coming in third in both standings.
The Panthers finished just six points behind the Wingers in the boys’ competition, taking second with 61 points to 67 for Red Wing.
Tyler Ehrke won the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 18.23 seconds, with the GSL 200-meter relay tema also taking the top spot in a time of one minute, 43.54 seconds.
The Panthers scored 42.5 points to take the runner-up spot in the girls’ competition, claiming a trio of event wins.
Emily Graupman won the 400-meter dash in 1:02.69, with the quartet of Rhyann Hermann, Taylor Novak, Shelby Clouse and Maddie Monahan winning the 4x200-meter relay in 1:56.98. Courtney Konen won the pole vault with a 8-foot fling.
