Trailblazer board debates next step after director’s performance review

The Trailblazer Transit Joint Powers Board had two closed sessions — once in April and one in May — to evaluate the job performance of Executive Director Gary Ludwig. The question some board members had at its June meeting, held Thursday, is what comes next?
According to the minutes from the board’s May meeting, Ludwig “received an evaluation of meets expectations and goals have been set for the future.”
However, Sibley County Commissioner Jim Swanson said he feels the evaluation wasn’t quite finished in that there didn’t seem to be “clarity on how to meet expectations for the next year.”
Swanson asked if some of the goals that were outlined should be prioritized.
Attorney Frank Madden, who assisted with the evaluation, said that there were “five solid items” that were set as goals “in addition to the goals that Gary (Ludwig) set that day.”
Wright County Commissioner Derek Vetsch said he felt that the evaluation was clear and that it would be “nonproductive for the board” to continue with the discussion.
The question also came up as to when the next review should be. McLeod County Commissioner Doug Krueger suggested the fall, because that “would get it set with the rest of them (employee reviews).”
