Two people injured in crash Monday night

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident that may have been weather-related in Renville County Monday evening.
According to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, the accident was reported at 7:05 p.m. and occurred at the intersection of Renville County Road 21 and Renville County Road 11, about three miles north of Renville in Crooks Township.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Nicole Hoberg, 24, of Renville, was traveling eastbound on County Road 11 in a 2011 GMC Acadia, while Gregory Kopel, 73, of rural Renville, was northbound on County Road 21 in a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. Kopel’s vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign, and weather may have been a contributing factor in the accident.
Hoberg and Kopel were both taken by the Renville Ambulance service to the Renville County Hospital and Clinics for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the accident.
Assisting at the scene were the Renville Police Department, Renville Ambulance Service and Renville Fire and Rescue.
