Update: Names released in fatal accident
The Minnesota State Patrol has released the name of a man who died of injuries he suffered in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 7 near Omega Avenue, east of Hutchinson, just before 10 a.m. today. He is George J. Horrmann Jr., 81, of Hutchinson.
The State Patrol also has released the names of the three drivers involved in the accident: Mary J. Sherman, 51, of Winsted, who was driving a 2001 GMC Yukon; Shawn M. Blanchard, 52, of Hutchinson, who was driving a 1998 Ford Expedition; and Blake L. Ogle, 20, of Silver Lake, who was driving a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. Horrmann was a passenger in the Expedition.
According to the State Patrol, Blanchard was eastbound on Highway 7 and had stopped while waiting for traffic to clear before attempting a lefthand turn onto Omega Avenue. Blanchard's vehicle was rearended by the Pathfinder and pushed into oncoming traffic, where it was struck by the Yukon.
Sherman, Blanchard and Ogle all suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, and were taken to Hutchinson Health Hospital for treatment. Horrmann was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.
