Walter Henry Heuer, 92, of Glencoe

Walter Heuer
Walter Henry Heuer, 92, of Glencoe, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord.
 
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 17, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Ronald Mathison officiating. Paul Otte was the organist. Congregational hymns were “My Hope is Built on Nothing Less,” “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.”
 
Casket bearers were Jay Eisenmenger, Tyler Lilienthal, Tanner Lilienthal, Tate Lilienthal, Ken Kantack and Ben Ische.
 
Interment was in the First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe.
 
Walter Henry Heuer was born Jan. 12, 1923, in Norwood, Carver County, the son of William and Emma (Stoeckmann) Heuer. He was baptized as an infant on Jan. 21, 1923, and was confirmed in his faith as a youth on March 21, 1937, both by the Rev. H.J. Bouman at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. He attended country school until the eighth grade.
 
On Feb. 26, 1950, he was united in marriage to Selda Lindemann by the Rev. Koepp at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton. The couple made their home and farmed in rural Young America Township, Carver County, until 1988. In 1988, they moved to Glencoe. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Judy, Janice, Janell and Cindy. They shared over 51 years of marriage before Mrs. Heuer’s death on Jan. 7, 2002.
 
Mr. Heuer worked as a farmer his entire life. He was a member first at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, then in 1988 became a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. He enjoyed playing card games, fishing and visiting with people. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
 
He is survived by his children, Judy (Terry) Rowan of Glencoe, Janice (Gary) Eisenmenger of Amboy, Janell (Jack) Lano of Norwood Young America and Cindy Lilienthal of Glencoe; grandchildren, Shannon (Ken) Kantack, Kelly (Jon) Dose, Rebekka (Nate) Stumme, Jay (Jenina) Eisenmenger, Elisabeth (Josh) Omang, Jennifer (Ben) Ische, Jamie (Brent) Kritzeck, Tyler (Lisa) Lilienthal, Tanner Lilienthal and Tate Lilienthal; great-grandchildren, Mikayla Kantack, Connor Kantack, Mackenzie Kantack, Alison Dose, Grace Dose, Ava Dose, Sam Dose, Ellie Stumme, Lily Stumme, Julia Omang, Isaac Omang, Mascon Ische and Ella Ische; sisters-in-law, Gert Heuer of Norwood Young America and Velma Lindemann of Arlington; nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Selda; infant grandson; parents, William and Emma Heuer; brothers, Edwin (Cora) Heuer and Herbert Heuer; sister, Olga (Albert) Mackenthun; parents-in-law, Albert and Minnie Lindemann; brothers-in-law, Harold (Mildred) Lindemann and Ervin Lindemann; sisters-in-law, Lydia (William) Brede, Arlene (Elroy) Diehn and Thusnelda (Marvin) Bielke.
