WCI thrift store staying open after partnership

The West Central Industries’ (WCI) thrift store in Hutchinson will remain open due to a new partnership between WCI, Adult Training and Habilitation Center (ATHC) and His House Foundation.
The store was originally set to close on Dec. 31. ATHC President Chris Davis said the closure was due to financial concerns as well as a new state Olmstead Plan that encourages shelter centers to have people with disabilities working in the community.
The partnership formed when ATHC Executive Director Martha Brannon, who works with the faith-based Minnetonka organization His House, approached WCI about a way the companies could work together to keep the store open.
The partnership will officially take on the store on Jan. 1, 2016.
