Wins are a sign hard work is paying off for GSL/LP wrestling
After a challenging opening section, the Glencoe-Silver Lake/Lester Prairie wrestling team is starting to see the fruits of hard work. The Panthers won five of their seven matches as a team last week.
GSL/LP coach Lance Wurm said hard work and a commitment to improve each day has been the secret for a good week. The team defeated Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial, New London-Spicer, Central (NYA), Spectrum High School and St. Clair while falling to St. Peter and Dassel-Cokato/Litchfield.
“The guys are working hard every day in practice,” Wurm said. “We’re just working on getting better.”
After last night’s match against BOLD (details not available when The Chronicle went to press), the Panthers will be at Annandale/Maple Lake Thursday, Jan. 16, 6 p.m., followed by an invitational Friday, Jan. 17, 3:30 p.m., at New London-Spicer. The Panthers will welcome Watertown-Mayer to GSL Thursday, Jan. 23, 5 p.m., for a dual meet.
The Panthers will wrap up the regular season with Feb. 7 at New Ulm and Feb. 8 at Dassel-Cokato. Section competition begins Feb. 13.
