World War I display featured at Sibley museum
Volunteers at the Sibley County Historical Museum have been busy organizing a display of items from World War I, 1914 to 1918.
The display includes military uniforms, a flight suit worn 100 years ago by a Sibley County pilot, maps, discharge papers, along with short histories about the lives of these servicemen. The display is on the main floor and is handicapped accessible. Other artifacts, throughout the three floors, include agricultural items, household, toys, handicrafts, more military items and Sibley County government.
The museum is set to open for the season on Memorial Day from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The museum will continue to be open on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. through October.
The museum is located on the west edge of Henderson along Highway 19 in the former August F. Poehler house.
