County Board calls for final plans for solid waste retrofit

The McLeod County Board voted unanimously Tuesday to have its solid waste consultant, Burns & McDonnell to start preparing contracts, final plans and requests for proposals for a possible retrofit of its materials recycling facility (MRF) to accommodate one-sort recycling.

Board Chair Paul Wright emphasized that Monday's decision doesn't commit the county to one-sort recycling. He said that once the county gets more solid financial numbers regarding the proposed project, County Board members will again visit each city to get input on whether the county should continue moving forward on the project.  Wright said Burns & McDonnell should have those figures in four to six weeks.
