Victor “The Rev” Jerome Harens, 60, of Gaylord, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord.
Mr. Harens was born June 19, 1953, in Gaylord. He was the son of William and Elizabeth (Donnay) Harens. He was baptized as an infant and was confirmed in his faith as a youth. He was a graduate of Gaylord High School, and a lifelong resident of Gaylord.
Mr. Harens was employed as a mason laying cement, worked for Michaels Foods and, in 1987, started full time at Neisen’s Bar. He also was a volunteer fireman.
He enjoyed race cars, building model cars, playing cards and hanging out with friends and family.
When Mr. Harens needed assistance with his daily care, he became a resident of Oak Terrace Health Care Center on March 25.
He is survived by his siblings, Harlan “Mike” Harens (Lynette) of Austin, Texas, Terrance (Janie) Harens of Hanover, Md., Lawrence Harens of Vacaville, Calif., Deborah Harens of Fairmont, William R. (Cheryl) Harens of Cokato and Thomas (Ann) Harens of Edina; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Betty Harens.
