Jessica “Jess” Grams, 35, is the newest member to the team of reporters at The McLeod County Chronicle, and began employment Monday.
She will be covering the Glencoe-Silver Lake school district and the Silver Lake City Council, among other feature stories and events.
She is a 1998 graduate of GSL, and studied theater at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. There, she earned a bachelor of arts degree in theater, and worked as a high school theater teacher for four years after college.
She also has made a career in performing opera and classical musical abroad in Europe after college, and she worked in administration as a digital archivist for a documentary film company for the Annenberg Foundation in Los Angeles.
While in California, Grams also performed with an opera company before moving back to the area to work for the LaFayette Ledger newspaper in LaFayette.
“I’ve really enjoyed my experiences abroad, but I’m really happy to come home. I’m ready to settle down in Glencoe,” she said.
Grams has two daughters, Alicen, 12, and Adeline, 9. She is the daughter of DeLue and Mary Grams of Brownton.
