The December Glencoe-Silver Lake School Board meeting took place Monday evening.
The first order of business was the reports from the business manager, principals, student activities, superintendent and various committees.
Bill Butler, Helen Baker principal, explained the school’s instructional leadership team will be meeting each month to develop strategies for teachers and students. He also noted that Helen Baker was considering having a special monthly silver table in the cafeteria designated for a class that exhibits excellence lunchroom behavior.
The English language teachers attended a meeting in St. Paul, where they learned that they reached the AMAO (Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives) levels 1, 2 and 3, which was a great improvement over the last few years.
One goal is to bring in a kindergarten-specific tutor, a K-2 tutor and a part-time tutor at Lakeside.
Board Member Jamie Alsleben offered kudos to both the Helen Baker and the Lakeside teams for their work on differential instruction.
