Two Stewart area residents were injured in a collision on Highway 212 at the Renville County Road 20 intersection, west of Stewart, Monday at about 5:40 p.m.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Douglas M. Erickson, 22, of Stewart, was driving a 1998 Chevy Blazer southbound on County Road 20 and had slowed for, but had not stopped, at the stop sign at Highway 212. The Blazer hit a 2012 Lincoln MKX, driven by Nancy Kottke, 59, of Stewart, that was westbound on Highway 212.
Both drivers were taken by ambulance to the Hutchinson hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Erickson was not wearing a seat belt, but his air bag deployed, according to the State Patrol. Kottke was wearing her seat belt, and the air bag also deployed.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the State Patrol.
Responding to the crash were the State Patrol, Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Buffalo Lake Police Department, McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, Stewart Fire Department and ambulances from Buffalo Lake and Hector.
