Buoyed by a program-best 46 members in ninth- through 12th-grade, the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ track and field team looks to continue its strong tradition and build on successes of the past.
“We’ve been fortunate to have very good track teams here,” coach Josh Metcalf said. “Kids keep coming out and our numbers keep improving every year.”
The Panthers’ greatest strength lies in its distance runners, a group enhanced by the presence of runners who earned a third-place finish at the state cross-country running meet last fall.
“We’ll be really strong in the distance events,” Metcalf said. “Hopefully, our sprinters come along and we’ll keep developing field events to fill that out.”
