Glencoe-Silver Lake softball coach Steve Davis characterized last week as a “fair” one after the Panthers went 2-1 over three games in Wright County West Conference play.
“We could’ve made a few more plays here and there, but the girls are working hard and with a little bit more, we’re right where we should be,” he said.
Coming off its first loss of the season to non-conference opponent Norwood Young America on Monday, April 13, GSL dove right back into WCC West play one day later against New London-Spicer.
The Panthers got out any frustrations they might have had from the previous defeat on the Tigers, rolling to a 12-2 victory in five innings. GSL filled the scorsheet with Maddy Kalenberg’s five-RBI effort on a 3-for-4 afternoon leading the way. Layne Herrman and Becca Green also chipped in with two RBI apiece with Kalenberg and Moriah Maunu scoring three runs apiece.
Maunu pitched her way to a second victory by striking out three while scattering four hits and two walks in the abbreviated contest.
