The Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ and girls’ track and field teams both finished third in their respective Section 2A Subsection 8 competitions at GSL High School on Thursday, May 21. More importantly, each squad advanced several members to the section championship meet this Saturday at Mankato West High School.
Ten members of the GSL girls team qualified for the section finals over three field events, two relays and five individual running events.
Twelve Panthers advanced to the section final over 11 events, including two relays and three field events.
The Section 2AA Meet is scheduled to begin with preliminary rounds and a selection of field events at 9 a.m. Saturday morning. The section finals are slated to commence at 11 a.m. Those finishing with qualifying results at the 2AA competition will advance to the state Class AA meet. The state meet will be held June 5-6 at Hamline University in St. Paul.
